Pantheism identifies the Universe with God and/or Nature with God. Pantheism confirms God’s immanence (here and now), but not transcendence (going beyond). Ralph Waldo Emerson was a pantheist. For Emerson “nature is the symbol of spirit” and, “every natural facit is a symbol of some spiritual facit.” (Ericson, 2003) Here Pantheism is similar to my saying the Spirit and Self are a congruent substance. Pantheism correlates with to the way Spinoza views God —-> Nature is not God, but in a large way Nature is in God.
